This small villa has been designed for a plot in Krioneri, Kavala. The area around the plot is not built yet so there are no architectural restrictions or references to consider in order designing the particular house. The site is almost linear and rectangular with a total area of 505m2. The building is intended to be occupied by a young couple and an older close relative. The brief outlines the need of the older person to have independency when preferred and on the same time easy access to the rest of the house. As the clients are in favor of post modern minimal architecture we have suggested a building with simple and clear cubic forms. In particular, the morphology of the project is characterized by a complex of two geometric masses.
The bigger mass is devoted to the couple while the small mass to be used solely by the older person. In elevation the bigger mass has the shape of the greek letter Ã(gamma) and rests on the smaller cubic mass. Sharp lines and basic materials as plaster and marble characterize both the interior and the exterior. The arrangement of the interior spaces of the bigger shape includes all daytime activities on the ground level whereas the upper level accommodates the couple's private quarters that maintain a certain extend of privacy and isolation.
The smaller mass has a simpler straight forward layout. It is consisted of two bedrooms, a bathroom and a larger area to be used as kitchen, dinning and living space.
